Cup of Coffee: Andujar homers, Bravo records 3 hits in FCL


5/12 Cup of Coffee:
After an off day on Sunday, the Florida Complex League resumed on Monday. Despite tallying 13 hits, inclduing a home run from Louis Andujar (pictured), the FCL Red Sox fell to the FCL Rays at JetBlue Park.

Angelo Ladera took the loss in his second start of the season after allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits, two walks, and four strikeouts over 1 1/3 innings. Yoelvin Chirino surrendered four additional runs, while Yomar De La Rosa and Rony Calderon combined for eight strikeouts across five scoreless frames of relief.

Offensively, Jhorman Bravo singled three times and drove in one run. Louis Andujar had two hits, including a two-run blast in the bottom of the eighth for his first home run of the season. Alexander Mambel went 2 for 4 with one run scored. Josue Brito singled in one run and scored another, while Franklin Primera scored once and drew two walks. Dorian Soto had one hit and stole one base. Harold Rivas went 1 for 3 with one triple and one run scored before being hit by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh and leaving the game. He was replaced by Givian Sirvania, who drove in one run and stole one base.

Player of the Day: Louis Andujar gets the nod for hitting his first stateside home run on Monday. The 18-year-old infielder has gotten his first season in the Florida Complex League off to a fast start, as he is now batting .364/.391/.636 with five extra-base hits, five RBIs, five runs scored, and two stolen bases through six games (23 plate appearances). Originally signed out of the Dominican Republic for $20,000 in January 2025, Andujar is not currently ranked among the organization's top 60 prospects.
