Fall/Winter League Roundup: Perales makes a pair of starts, Guerrero and Hernandez play in the Dominican Republic
With the Arizona Fall League in full swing, several Red Sox prospects have been seeing game action for the last week and a half. While it has been tough for most of the Boston representatives, Luis Perales continues to ramp up following his recovery from Tommy John surgery. In addition to the Fall League, a pair of Red Sox farmhands saw some action in the Dominican League. This week's roundup covers everything from October 13-19, with stats available at the SoxProspects.com Fall & Winter Leagues page.

Arizona Fall League
Without a doubt the most intriguing storyline among Boston's players is Luis Perales, who made his second and third starts of the Fall League this week. After kicking things off for the Salt River Rafters with 1 1/3 scoreless innings in the season opener, Perales followed it up with two innings in his second start. While he allowed a run on a walk in the second frame, he did not allow a hit and struck out four while throwing 21 of his 31 pitches for strikes. Perales also topped out at 100.7 MPH on his fastball. In his third start on Sunday afternoon, the right-hander struggled with command. He allowed three runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts tallied to his line, throwing just 29 of his 51 pitches for strikes while topping out at 100.5 MPH.
Outside of Perales on the pitching side, Isaac Stebens (2 1/3 innings), Brandon Neely (4 2/3 innings), Jojo Ingrassia (4 1/3 innings) and Jay Allmer (2 1/3 innings) all have ERAs over 10 in the small sample size.
Offensively, Stanley Tucker leads the way among the three Boston hitters with a .286 average to go along with a .765 OPS in nine games. Johanfran Garcia has struggled with a .185 batting average but has walked five times in seven games. Nelly Taylor has also gotten off to a slow start with a .125 average and .347 OPS.

Dominican Winter League
With several winter leagues kicking off play this week, including the Venezuelan and Mexican leagues, pitcher Luis Guerrero and catcher Ronaldo Hernandez have taken part in the early stages of the season in the Dominican Republic.
Through his first three games with Toros del Este, Hernandez is 4-for-9 with a double and a pair of RBIs. Hernandez originally came to Boston along with Nick Sogard in the 2021 trade that sent Jeffrey Springs and Chris Mazza to Tampa Bay. After Hernandez elected free agency after the 2022 season, he played in the Diamondbacks and Yankees organizations before returning to Boston on a Minor League deal in July of 2025.
Guerrero took the loss in his only game with Leones del Escogido so far, allowing a run on a hit and a walk while recording two outs. Guerrero looked to be an important piece of the Red Sox's bullpen before inconsistencies followed by an elbow strain ended his 2025 campaign in June.
