Cup of Coffee: Uberstine deals, Perales dominates in Triple-A debut

9/18 Cup of Coffee
: Worcester picked up their second consecutive win to improve to 74-71 on the season. With only four games remaining, that means the WooSox need just one more win to clinch a winning season for 2025.

Tyler Uberstine (pictured) set the tone for Worcester on the mound, firing five shutout innings. The 26-year old righty gave up just three hits to go along with six strikeouts and one walk. Luis Perales followed Uberstine and was tremendous in his WooSox debut. He struck out the side in order on 11 pitches, 10 of which were strikes. He also induced five swinging strikes on those 11 pitches. He did not throw a single fastball in the outing. Luis Guerrero and Jovani Moran each tossed a scoreless inning before Nick Burdi nailed down his fifth save. Burdi allowed one run, but struck out a pair.

Max Ferguson had the biggest hit of the night for Worcester, roping a two-run double in the second inning. Tyler McDonough reached twice with a single, a walk, and a run scored. Kristian Campbell, playing in right field, went 2 for 4 with two singles. Jhostynxon Garcia went 1 for 2 with a single, but he was removed from the game in the fourth inning after beating out an infield single. Our own Ian Cundall was in attendance, and it is unclear why he came out of the game early.

Player of the Day: Tyler Uberstine capped off a terrific minor league season, as he finishes with a 3.58 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 137 strikeouts in 120 2/3 innings between Portland and Worcester. This was the second straight start for him in which he allowed no runs in five innings. He is currently ranked 20th here at SoxProspects.com.
