Cup of Coffee: Andujar, Ogando homer in DSL action
8/12 Cup of Coffee: Both of Boston's Dominican Summer League affiliates lost on Monday. Despite getting home runs from Jostin Ogando and Louis Andujar, the Blue squad fell to DSL Pirates Black. Miguel Rivera, meanwhile, drove in two of his side's five runs in the Red squad's loss to DSL CLE Mendoza.

Dani Richar took the loss in his start for the Blue squad, allowing four earned runs on two hits, two walks, one hit by pitch, and one strikeout over two innings. Yander Bonaci and Michael Manjarres combined to give up six additional earned runs out of the bullpen, while Angel Lopez worked three scoreless frames of relief. Offensively, Jostin Ogando led the way by going 2 for 4 with one double, one home run, two RBIs, and one run scored. Louis Andujar also homered, scored twice, and drew one walk as part of a 1-for-4 showing. Edwin Darville tripled in one run and scored another. Josue Brito went 1 for 4 with one double, one RBI, two runs scored, and one walk. Eliezer Alfonzo and Diomar Hidalgo combined for three stolen bases.
With the loss, the Blue squad drops to 28-21 on the season. They currently hold a 1 1/2-game lead over DSL Astros Orange and DSL Rays (both 27-23) for first place in the North division standings.

Berny Ortiz went three innings in his start for the Red squad, allowing three earned runs on three hits (including one home run), no walks, and three strikeouts. Charlie Zink struggled in relief, surrendering four runs (two earned) in just one-third of an inning. Allan Griman struck out three over 2 2/3 scoreless frames. At the plate, Miguel Rivera went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and one walk. Franklin Primera, Geomaikel Martinez, and Adrian Valdez all drove in runs as well. Miguel Welch scored one run and stole one base, while Dorian Soto and Givian Sirvania both scored one run and drew one walk.
With the loss, their sixth straight, the Red squad drops to 22-27 on the season. They currently trail DSL Padres Gold (33-16) by 11 games for first place in the Northwest division standings.

Player of the Day: Jostin Ogando gets the nod after homering for the second time in as many games on Monday. The 17-year-old first baseman/outfielder is now batting .261/.432/.398 with three doubles, three home runs, 22 RBIs, 12 runs scored, one stolen base, 23 walks, and 22 strikeouts through 37 games (118 plate appearances) for the Blue squad this season. He signed with Boston for $60,000 as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in May.
