Cup of Coffee: Turner hits first professional homer in FCL; Rivas stays hot in DSL

6/10 Cup of Coffee:
While Roman Anthony deservedly stole all of the headlines after getting called up for his MLB debut, Boston's rookie-level affiliates went 2-0 on Monday. Will Turner (pictured) and Justin Barry both homered in Florida Complex League action, while Harold Rivas extended his career-opening hitting streak to six games in the Dominican Summer League.

Jesus Travieso put together another solid start for the FCL Red Sox, allowing only one earned run on one hit, three walks, and seven strikeouts over three innings. Fellow righty Wuilliams Rodriguez notched the win in relief after yielding four earned runs on four hits (including a three-run home run), one walk, one hit by pitch, and one strikeout in four innings. Offensively, Gerardo Rodriguez led the way by going 2 for 4 with one double, one run scored, and one walk. Will Turner crushed his first professional home run as part of a 1-for-3 showing in which he drew three walks and scored three times. Justin Barry also went deep for the second time this season with his go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning. Alexander Mambel and Ilan Fernandez both doubled, with the latter driving in the former on his two-base hit in the second inning. Yan Cruz drove in one run as well, while Anderson Fermin drew two walks and scored one run out of the leadoff spot.

Dani Richar impressed in his second start for DSL Red Sox Blue, allowing only one earned run on two hits, two walks, one hit by pitch, and six strikeouts over four innings. Fellow lefty Yander Bonaci scattered two hits and one walk while striking out two in three scoreless frames out of the bullpen to notch the winning decision. At the plate, Christopher Alvarado was responsible for his side's lone extra-base hit, as he went 1 for 3 with a two-run double. Harold Rivas went 1 for 2 with two runs scored and two walks out of the leadoff spot. Enmanuel Figuero drew two walks as well, while Eliezer Alfonzo scored two runs and stole his third base in five games.

Player of the Day: Will Turner gets the nod for checking off a noteworthy career milestone on Monday. The 22-year-old outfielder out of South Alabama opened his first full professional season on the 60-day injured list due to a broken hamate bone and has been rehabbing in the Florida Complex League since May 29. Through seven games for the FCL Red Sox, he has gone 3-for-20 (.150) with one home run, six RBIs, eight runs scored, one stolen base, nine walks, and six strikeouts.
