Cup of Coffee: Travieso and Co. deal in FCL: Both DSL games interrupted by lightning
6/17 Cup of Coffee: The Florida Complex League Red Sox were the only rookie-level affiliate to get a full game in on Monday. Both Dominican Summer League squads saw their games suspended in the early stages due to lightning.

Jesus Travieso (pictured) put together his longest start of the season to date for the FCL Red Sox. The 18-year-old right-hander allowed just one hit and three walks while striking out five over a career-high five innings of work. Fellow righties Gilbel Galvan, who was credited with the winning decision, and Juan Henriquez combined for four additional scoreless frames out of the bullpen to preserve the shutout. Yan Cruz led the way offensively by going 2 for 3 with one RBI and one walk. Edwin Brito also drove in a run as part of a 1-for-4 day. Gerardo Rodriguez scored two runs, while Efren Teran and Ilan Fernandez each scored once.

This game was suspended with one out and one runner on in the bottom of the second inning. It is scheduled to be completed on June 23. Stiven De La Cruz opened the scoring by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the top of the first. Dani Richar allowed one hit and one walk while striking out a pair without giving up a run through the first 1 1/3 innings of his start.

This game was suspended with one out and nobody on in the top of the fourth inning. It is scheduled to be completed on July 7. Berny Ortiz was through the first 3 1/3 innings of his start, having allowed only one earned run on two hits, one walk, one hit by pitch, and six strikeouts. The Red squad had yet to record a hit, though Adrian Valdez reached base via a second-inning walk.

Player of the Day: Jesus Travieso gets the nod for another impressive outing in the FCL. After getting his first season in the United States off to a rocky start, the Venezuelan righty has settled in as of late and has allowed just two runs (one earned) on five hits, eight walks, and 18 strikeouts through three appearances (12 innings) this month. He is currently regarded as the No. 50 prospect in the organization.
