Fall/Winter League Roundup: Vazquez plays last game until spring
This week's roundup covers play from the period of December 29 - January 4. For the full list of Red Sox prospects participating in offseason action, check out our Fall and Winter Leagues page, which will be updated continuously through the end of the offseason.

The regular season wrapped up last week, and with Lara and Margarita failing to qualify for the playoffs, it is unlikely any Red Sox will see action the rest of the way. Edwin Escobar tossed a scoreless inning on Monday in his last regular season appearance, and Mario Martinez went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk in his only game this week.
Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (Puerto Rico)
With the regular season ending on December 31, Christian Vazquez (pictured) and Joseph Monge saw their seasons come to an end when San Juan missed the playoffs. Vazquez went 1 for 5 in two games this week, while Monge went 0 for 4 with a walk.
Jemile Weeks had a great game in his last regular season appearance, going 2 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored, but he followed that up with a 0 for 4 performance in his first playoff game. It did not take him long to rebound, going 3 for 4 the next day, while adding another triple, but his play fell off again on Sunday, as he went 0 for 4 while drawing a walk.
Henry Ramos went 3 for 11 in his three playoff games for Caguas, including a double on Sunday that was his first extra-base hit in over a month. After not appearing in a game since November 1 and getting one at-bat total this winter, Jeremy Rivera apparently got a start in a playoff game, going 1 for 4 while hitting third in the lineup in front of major leaguer Kennys Vargas (although it is entirely possible that this was an error).
Australian Baseball League
It was an interesting three appearances for Jorge Marban this week. After tossing a perfect inning on Monday, he allowed a run on two hits in one inning of work on Tuesday. After a few days off he had a wild outing on Saturday, striking out six while also walking three in only two innings of work.
Mike McCarthy made his debut for Perth this week, allowing one run over three innings on Monday, and two runs over five innings on Saturday. He allowed only seven hits over the eight innings, but two of them were home runs.
Colombian Professional Baseball League
Sergio Gomez pitched well in a no-decision on Tuesday, going 4 1/3 innings while allowing one run on three hits, walking one and striking out four.
Panama Professional Baseball League
Pablo Urena made his one appearance count, going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and four RBI.
