Red Sox sign eighth-rounder Nathan Minnich

The Hagerstown Herald-Mail is reporting that the Red Sox have signed eighth-round draft pick Nathan Minnich. Details of the contract have not been released, though it is expected to be below the slot recommendation for the 271st pick of $133,500.
Minnich, a first baseman from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV, was awarded the Tino Martinez Award as the national Division II player of the year. The Senior hit .487/.645/.980 with 21 home runs in 52 games. Minnich is expected to report to Lowell.
