Fall/Winter League Roundup: Gudino pitches well, Hernandez designated for assignment

There was not a ton of action this past week for Red Sox players. The regular season ended for the Roberto Clemente League, as the playoffs got underway. This covers games from January 2 through January 8, but only a couple players saw time.

The regular season came to a close and the semifinals began this past week. Red Sox players did not see any action, as Ponce is not in the postseason. Henry Nunez (pictured) ended his winter with a 4.24 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 23 1/3 frames, while Nate Tellier finished his campaign with a 5.40 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings. At the plate for Ponce, catcher Juan Montero ended his season with three hits in 25 at-bats.

Dominican Professional Baseball League
There was no action for Sox players here either, as Nick Sogard is inactive and has yet to play for Cibao despite being being recently added to their team.

Venezuelan Professional Baseball League
Norwith Gudino made his first appearances on the bump in a while this past week and was pretty solid. The right-hander tossed three innings and allowed two runs on two hits. He had just one walk and punched out four. The Red Sox also designated Darwinzon Hernandez for assignment this past week. The left-hander pitched for Lara this winter and had a 3.86 ERA in 16 1/3 innings with 23 strikeouts.

Colombian Professional Baseball League
Ronaldo Hernandez bounced back with a good week to raise his season slash line to .280/.393/.545. He has belted eight home runs in 143 at-bats this winter.

Panama Pro Baseball Association
There are unfortunately no updates here again, as the league's website has not been updated since mid-December. Yusniel Padron-Artiles and Eduardo Vaughan are currently playing in this league.
