Cup of Coffee: Dalbec belts two home runs, Sea Dogs right back to winning


9/18 Cup of Coffee: A day after their eight-game winning streak was snapped, the Sea Dogs bounced back with a convincing win behind eight runs and 13 hits. David Hamilton had three hits and Izzy Wilson went deep. Worcester lost but hit three home runs, two of which came from Bobby Dalbec (pictured). Josh Winckowski punched out six as well.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (NYY) 7, Worcester Red Sox 5
The Sox belted three home runs, but it wasn't enough. Bobby Dalbec led the charge by going 2 for 3 with a pair of home runs, three RBI, and a walk. Johan Mieses also hit a home run, his 10th of the season. Jarren Duran had a nice game as well in the leadoff spot, going 2 for 4 with a run scored. Josh Winckowski pitched pretty well, surrendering four runs (three earned) over six innings. The right-hander struck out six and walked just one. Darwinzon Hernandez struck out two in a scoreless seventh before Geoff Hartlieb struggled in the eighth, allowing three runs.

Portland Sea Dogs 8, Somerset Patriots (NYY) 2
The Sea Dogs' 13-hit attack was led by the guy at the top of the order, David Hamilton, who had three hits and scored a run. Izzy Wilson went 2 for 4 with a solo shot and an RBI single as well. Stephen Scott added two hits and two RBI, while Christian Koss, Matthew Lugo, and Hudson Potts each roped doubles. Wyatt Olds got the start and allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings. He labored through those innings, working around five walks. He struck out three. Ryan Zeferjahn tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings before Jacob Webb, Oddanier Mosqueda, and Michael Gettys each ripped off a shutout frame of their own. Portland is now 17-2 in their last 19 games.

Player of the Day: Bobby Dalbec hit his second and third home runs in 10 games since being sent down to Triple-A. The first baseman is slugging .486 over 37 at-bats with the WooSox. It's the second time he has had two home runs in a game this season, the first coming with Boston on July 27th against the Guardians.
