Eight former Red Sox draftees selected in 2018 Draft

In the 2018 MLB draft, eight former Red Sox draft picks were selected. This total is down from 12 in 2017. Over the past two years Boston had seen five of its former draftees come off the board in the first two rounds, but that trend changed in 2018, as DJ Artis remained on the board until the Chicago Cubs nabbed him in the seventh round. Interestingly, the Washington Nationals used consecutive picks on players the Red Sox had taken in 2017: pitchers Carson Teel and Ridge Chapman

Here is the complete list of former Red Sox draftees who were selected this week:

2017 Red Sox draftees
37. Carson Teel, LHP, Oklahoma State — 16th round by Washington
39. Ridge Chapman, RHP, South Carolina — 17th round by Washington

2016 Red Sox draftees
38. Austin Bergner, RHP, North Carolina — 32nd round by Arizona

2015 Red Sox draftees
