Cup of Coffee: With Casas capturing headlines, DSL Red Sox win in extras

6/5 Cup of Coffee: With the Boston Red Sox picking Triston Casas out of Florida's American Heritage School with their first-round selection on a day headlined by the MLB Draft, and with Pawtucket, Portland, Salem, and Greenville all idle, it was the DSL Red Sox who provided the on-field entertainment on Monday.

DSL Red Sox 4, Dodgers Robinson (LAD) 2 (11 inn.)
A throwing error on a Lewis Baez sacrifice bunt with no outs in the top of the 11th inning allowed Brandon Rincones to score the game-winning run. A two-out single from Fabian Andrade scored Baez as the DSL Red Sox won in extra innings over the Dodgers Robinson. The Red Sox went ahead 2-1 in the top of the tenth but the Dodgers tied it in the bottom half of the inning before the Red Sox finally pulled away in the 11th.

Carlos Cortes picked up the win in relief. The 21-year-old allowed one hit and one run (unearned) in three innings while striking out two. Luis Colmenares picked up the save. Gilberto Jimenez and Andrade both collected multiple hits in the win.

Player of the Day: By tossing three innings of one-hit relief, Carlos Cortes kept the DSL Red Sox within reach before his teammates garnered him the win with a two-run 11th inning. Cortes picked up the first victory for any pitcher on the team as it was DSL's second game of the season. After being signed as an international free agent in 2015, the right-hander has racked up 87 2/3 innings of work in 41 games, all with rookie ball.
