Moncada, Dubon named to Carolina League All-Star Game

The Salem Red Sox will send second baseman Yoan Moncada (pictured) and shortstop Mauricio Dubon to the Carolina League All-Star Game on June 21.

Moncada, 21, has been the top prospect all season at SoxProspects.com, and is currently batting .299/.421/.475 with 21 doubles, three triples, three home runs, and 34 stolen bases. He leads the Carolina league in on-base percentage, doubles, steals, and walks (40). He is striking out at a high rate, in line with last season, but has increased his walk rate. He is 10 for his last 26 (.385) with eight doubles.

Dubon, currently ranked 12th at SoxProspects.com, has carried his momentum from last season over into 2016. The 21-year-old is currently batting .301/.385/.383 in 233 plate appearances this season. He also has 18 stolen bases in 22 attempts and has more walks (28) than strikeouts (22). He has also increased his OPS by 100 points (.768) from his second-half stint in Salem in 2015 (.668). Dubon has spent all of his time manning shortstop this season, but has past experience at second and third base as well.
