Jon Denney arrested in Fort Myers
Jon Denney, the Red Sox third-round pick in the 2013 draft, was arrested early Thursday morning near Fort Myers Beach. The incident was reported by Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.
According to the report, Denney, 19, was pulled over at 11:57 on Wednesday night while driving with a restricted license, and was issued a citation. His license had been suspended after a DUI incident in Arkansas. He was pulled over again at 2:22 Thursday after police saw him enter his truck and drive out of the parking lot. According to police, he "became belligerent" and was handcuffed at the scene.
Denney was booked at the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 4:06 am, and was released at 8:30 am after posting $500 bond.
Denney is scheduled for a court appearance on March 31.
In a statement to Yahoo, the Red Sox acknowledged the incident but declined to make further comment.
