Red Sox re-claim right-hander Rosario on waivers
Less than two weeks after trading him to the Oakland A's the Red Sox claimed right-handed pitcher Sandy Rosario off waivers on Monday. Oakland designated Rosario for assignment back on November 30, three days after receiving acquiring him.
The Red Sox originally claimed Rosario off waivers from Miami on October 17. The club designated him for assignment on November 21 as part of a series of moves on the deadline to add players to the 40-man roster to protect them from selection in the Rule 5 Draft. The Red Sox received Graham Godfrey from Oakland as the player to be named later in the Rosario trade to Oakland on Friday.
With the addition of Rosario, the Red Sox have 39 players on the 40-man roster. With the pending additions of Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino, and Koji Uehara, expect to see some players removed from the roster via trade or DFA in the coming days.
