Pedro Beato clears waivers, outrighted to Triple-A
Perhaps validating the team's decision to wait until absolutely necessary to designate Pedro Beato for assignment, the right-hander has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Pawtucket. The news was reported earlier today by Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal. Beato was designated for assignment on Wednesday and apparently immediately was placed on waivers.
The Red Sox acquired Beato from the Mets for catcher Kelly Shoppach in an August trade.
