Cup of Coffee: Pawtucket trumped by Aces in Triple-A Championship

9/19 Cup of Coffee: Pawtucket's magical season came to an end Tuesday night as they dropped a 10-3 decision to the Reno Aces (AZ) in the Triple-A championship game.

Nelson Figueroa received the start for Pawtucket, looking to win yet another important game after receiving the victories in both the semi-final clincher and the Governor's Cup finale. However, Figueroa could not replicate his magic, lasting just 2.0 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits while striking out two as he received the loss.

Alex Wilson, Jose De La Torre and Tony Pena combined for 3.0 scoreless innings of relief after Chris Hernandez and Brock Huntzinger both allowed a pair of runs in their brief appearances.

Pawtucket entered the fourth inning of the contest staring down a daunting 8-0 hole. Danny Valencia scored on a Che-Hsuan Lin bases-loaded walk in the top of the fourth to put the PawSox on the board. In the fifth, Tony Thomas laced a solo home run to draw the PawSox closer, 8-2. Pawtucket's only other run of the contest came in the seventh when Lin brought home Dan Butler (pictured) on an RBI single.

Pawtucket was just 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position and left 15 men on base. The team also had 11 walks, including seven from Reno starter Trevor Bauer, but were unable to take advantage.

Player of the Night: Dan Butler, who was 2 for 4 with a double, walk and a run scored in Tuesday night's loss. Butler was a key contributor for Pawtucket down the stretch this season, hitting .281/.351/.625 with three home runs and seven RBI in the PawSox last 10 regular season contests.
