Hernandez promoted to Pawtucket

Left-hander Chris Hernandez has been promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket, according to SoxProspects.com sources.

A seventh-round pick in the 2010 MLB Draft who signed for $375,000 out of the University of Miami, he becomes the first member of Boston's 2010 draft class to reach Triple-A. Hernandez, 23, was 4-8 with a 3.13 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in 18 starts for Double-A Portland. Last year with High A Salem, Hernandez was 10-7 with a 3.18 ERA in 25 starts.

Though his fastball tops out in the high 80s, Hernandez keeps hitters off balance with a cutter, change-up, and curveball.

No corresponding roster moves are known at this time.
