Jamie Callahan (Perfect Game)
With their second-round pick in this year's draft, the Red Sox have selected Jamie Callahan, a right-handed pitcher from Dillon High School in Hamer, S.C.

Callahan, 17, was recently named the Gatorade South Carolina High School Player of the Year. Committed to the University of South Carolina next fall, Callahan went 7-1 with a 0.89 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 50.0 innings pitched as he led the Dillon Wildcats deep into the playoffs this season. The 6'2", 195 lb. right-hander's fastball sits 88-92 mph and can occasionally reach the mid 90's. He throws a 12-6 curveball as well as a slider and changeup that are works in progress.

Baseball America's 144th ranked prospect leading into the draft, Callahan also hit .439 with 5 home runs and 32 RBI this season. A hard worker both in the classroom (3.9 GPA) and on the field, Callahan does not turn 18 until August.
