This week's SoxProspects.com Player and Pitcher of the Week honorees Boss Moanaroa and Ryan Pressly are a pair of first-time winners and are the first duo of 2012 in which both members ranked outside of the site's the top 40.
Greenville's Moanaroa had a very productive home stand last week batting .400/.500/.700, 8-for-20 with six bases on balls, hitting a home rune and three doubles and racking up hits in all but one game (in which he walked twice). Boss especially had it in for West Virginia (PIT), putting up multi-hit games in two-out-of-three played and hitting a home run and one of his doubles against them.On the season Moanaroa is hitting .281/.419/.421 with four home runs, three doubles and a triple in 121 at-bats over 37 games.
Pressly's start last Wednesday at Carolina (CLE) was easily his strongest of the season and his seven shutout innings of work in which he allowed only four hits, no walks and struck out eight and is consistent with the high level of performance of 2012's honorees. In eight appearances with Salem (seven starts) so far Pressly owns a 3-1 record with a 5.95 ERA, having allowed 28 earned runs on 43 hits over 42.1 innings or work, with 35 strikeouts versus 10 walks and .262 opponents' batting average.
