Workman assigned to Salem

According to Brandon Workman on Twitter, the right-hander will start the 2012 season as a member of the High-A Salem Red Sox. 

The 23-year-old was originally selected by the Red Sox in the second round of the 2010 amateur draft. Making his professional debut as a member of the Low-A Greenville Drive last season, Workman went 6-7 with a 3.71 ERA in 26 starts, striking out 115 in 131.0 innings pitched.
