Middlebrooks named to AFL Rising Stars Game
Top prospect Will Middlebrooks was named to AFL Rising Stars Game according to the Arizona Fall League Twitter feed. The game will be held this Saturday, November 5th at 8:00 EST. You can watch it live on MLB Network as well as online at mlb.com
It is undetermined if Middlebrooks will be able to play on Saturday as he left last night's game with a thumb injury. Alex Speier reported today that the Red Sox believe the injury is minor, but are awaiting official medical reports before they decide if he can play.
Middlebrooks is currently hitting .250 with a .300 on-base percentage and .518 slugging percentage. While his .818 OPS is middle of the pack for the offensive friendly Arizona Fall League, he has flashed all the tools that make him the top ranked prospect in the Red Sox system by SoxProspects, including his plus defense at third base.
