Scorpions losing ways continue, drop second straight to Mesa

10/21 Cup of Coffee: Another lackluster day at the ballpark led to yet another Scottsdale loss.

Managing just four hits, the Scottsdale Scorpions dropped their second in a row to the Mesa Solar Sox, 4-1. The Scorpions are 2-8 in their last 10 contests.

The Solar Sox plated singular runs in the first and fourth innings as well as two runs in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. Scottsdale’s lone run of the game came in the top of the seventh on a solo home run by Tyson Gillies (TOR).

Will Middlebrooks batted cleanup and played third base, going 0 for 3 with a walk and 2 strikeouts.

Of note, Josh Vitters (CHC) was 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk batting cleanup and acting as the designated hitter for Mesa.

Scottsdale will look to get back in the win column this afternoon as they square off against the Surprise Saguaros at 3:35 EST.
