Players of the Month, August 2011: Daniel Nava & Matt Fox

A pair of Pawtucket teammates led the PawSox to an 18-12 record in August, vaulting the team into first place in the International League's North Division. Due to their strong perfomances, Daniel Nava and Matt Fox are August's SoxProspects Players of the Month.

Nava, 28, has had an up-and-down season during his second full campaign in Pawtucket. After a rough month of July that saw Nava hit .185/.255/.207, he turned the corner in August, hitting .319/.414/.649 with 8 doubles, 7 home runs and 17 RBI. Nava is currently hitting .266/.267/.406 with 10 home runs and 43 RBI in 117 games for the PawSox.

Fox, 28, was claimed off waivers from the Minnesota Twins by the Red Sox in September of 2010. In his first full season in the Boston organization, Fox has compiled a 9-4 record with a 4.04 ERA, striking out 118 in 124.2 innings pitched. Pawtucket's lone All-Star in 2011, Fox had a stellar month of August, going 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA in 4 starts. Part of Fox's August success was due to his reduced walk totals, as he issues just 6 walks and struck out 29 in 25.2 innings pitched. Fox's strong month also earned him International League and SoxProspects Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of August 8-14.
