Alex Wilson promoted to Triple-A

According to Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal, Alex Wilson has been promoted to Triple-A. Infielder Brent Dlugach has been placed on the disabled list with a shoulder strain to make room on the Pawtucket roster.

The 2009 second-round draftee spent the entire season in Portland this year before the call-up, going 9-4 with an ERA of 3.05 in 21 starts. He struck out 99 batters over 112.0 innings while walking 37. He's shown tremendous improvement over last year's 16 start stint with the Sea Dogs, in which he posted a 6.66 ERA.

Wilson, 24, mixes a low-to-mid 90s fastball and a 81-84 MPH slider that can be a devastating out pitch for him at times. He also throws a developing changeup and has featured a curveball.

He is expected to make his PawSox debut on Thursday.
