The Greenville Drive announced that infielder Sean Coyle has been placed on the disabled list to recover from a facial laceration and that infielder Xander Bogaerts has been assigned to the Drive.

Coyle, 19, was removed from Monday's game against Lexington (HOU) after being hit in the face with a pitch. In his sophomore season as a member of the Red Sox organization, Coyle has hit .228/.360/.476 with 5 home runs and 23 RBI in 41 games. He made his professional debut last August with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox, appearing in 3 games and recording 2 hits.

Bogaerts, 18, is entering his second season in the organization. He has been participating in extended spring training for all of 2011. In 2010, he had an impressive professional debut, hitting .314/.396/.423 with 3 home runs and 42 RBI as a member of the Dominican Summer League Red Sox. Currently ranked #31 on SoxProspects, Bogaerts was named the 2010 SoxProspects Rookie of the Year as well as the Red Sox Minor League Latin Program Player of the Year for his impressive 2010 season.
