Players of the Week, April 25-May 1: Miles Head and Manuel Rivera

Two members of the Low-A Greenville Drive were the overwhelming winners of this week's SoxProspects.com awards. First baseman Miles Head took home Player of the Week honors and Manuel Rivera was the reciepent of the Pitcher of the Week award, both winning the award for the second time this season.

Head, who faced stiff competition for this week's award, had an oustanding week at the plate, vaulting into first in the South Atlantic League in home runs. The 20-year-old hit .360/.429/.920 in 25 at-bats last week, hammering 4 home runs and 2 doubles while scoring 6 runs and driving in 8. Head's third season as a professional has started off splendidly, as he currently sits at .330/.394/.680 with 9 home runs and 22 RBI.

Rivera, a 21-year-old left-hander, was superb enough in his only game of the week to also pick up South Atlantic League Player of the Week honors. In his April 28th start vs. Greensboro (FLA), Rivera was near flawless, twirling 6.0 innings, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 8 to pick up the victory. Greenville's staff ace, Rivera is now 4-1 with a 1.45 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 6 starts (31.0 innings) this season.
