Sox add Pimentel, Exposito and Tejeda to 40-man roster

In advance of the December 9th Rule 5 draft, the Red Sox have added pitcher Stolmy Pimentel, catcher Luis Exposito and infielder Oscar Tejeda to their 40-man roster. The moves protect the players from being selected by another franchise during the upcoming draft.

Pimentel, 20, is currently ranked the #8th overall prospect according to SoxProspects.com. The Dominican right-hander went 9-11 with a 4.06 ERA while striking out 102 batters in 128.2 innings for High-A Salem this past season.

Exposito, 23, hit .260/.339/.416 with 11 home runs in 2010 as a member of the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. He has solid tools but needs to refine his plate discipline and defensive skills in order to have a shot at starting at the big league level.

Tejeda, 20, was signed as an international free agent in 2006 and has impressed scouts with his natural tools and ability. Playing at High-A Salem in 2010, Tejeda hit .307 with 11 home runs and 17 stolen bases, making the move from shortstop to second base.
