Players of the Week, July 26-August 1: Luis Exposito and Pete Ruiz

After impressive performances this week, Portland's Luis Exposito and Greenville's Pete Ruiz were named Pitcher and Player of the Week by the SoxProspects.com community.

Exposito, 23, set the Eastern League on fire with his bat last week, compiling a slash line of .429/.543/.750. His 2 home runs and 10 RBI over the past week led all non-rehabbing Sox minor leaguers (Mike Lowell had 4 homers on a rehab stint with Pawtucket). Exposito's big night on Thursday, a 2 home run, 5 RBI performance against Harrisburg helped clinch the award. The Florida native is now third in the Eastern League with 75 RBI.

Meanwhile, on the mound, the 22-year-old Ruiz spun a 7-inning complete game shutout on Tuesday in game one of a doubleheader against Rome. He allowed just 4 hits without walking a batter, and also fanned four on the way to his 7th win of the season. The right-hander is now 7-8 with a 4.86 ERA in 21 appearances for the Drive.
