Hermida activated, Nava optioned to Pawtucket

According to Amalie Benjamin on twitter, the Red Sox have optioned outfielder Daniel Nava to Triple-A Pawtucket and activated outfield Jeremy Hermida from the 15-day disabled list.

Nava, 27, was originally signed out of the independent Golden League in 2007 by Boston and has flourished at every stop along the way ever since. Playing his first game with Boston on June 12, Nava hit the first pitch he saw into the seats for a grand slam. In 29 games in the majors he hit .281/.381/.451 with a home run and 16 RBI. Nava returns to Triple-A Pawtucket where he amassed a .294/.364/.492 line with 8 home runs and 38 RBI in 54 games.

Hermida returns from the DL after injuring his ribs on a collision with third baseman Adrian Beltre. Acquired in a trade with Florida in the offseason, Hermida has hit .217/.268/.384 with 5 home runs and 27 RBI in 45 games with Boston this season. He appeared in just 5 games on his rehab stint with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket, collecting just 4 hits in 19 at-bats.
