In his place, the Red Sox will recall Felix Doubront from Triple-A Pawtucket. The 22-year-old left hander made his Red Sox debut on June 18, yielding 3 earned runs and 6 hits in 5 innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He earned the win while walking and striking out a pair of batters.
Doubront, ranked #5 on SoxProspects.com list of Red Sox prospects, is expected to be on the mound to make the start Tuesday against Tampa Bay. In action between Portland and Pawtucket this season, Doubront has gone 7-2 with a 2.45 ERA, allowing 61 hits in 69.2 innings, striking out 62 and walking 26.
