Players of the Week, June 7-13; Mitch Dening & Ramon A. Ramirez

Salem's Mitch Dening put on the proverbial laser show last week, posting a .379/.457/.655 line with 3 doubles, a home run (his first of the season) and a triple and hitting safely in all seven of the Sox games last week. Pawtucket's Ramon A. Ramirez faced the Louisville Bats (Reds) twice last week, allowing 1 run (a solo home run) on three hits, with 4 strike outs and 0 walks in three innings of relief on the road Monday; and in his first start of the season at McCoy on Sunday, silencing the Bats over five shutout innings, striking out 8, walking none, allowing a single hit and earning his first victory of 2010. In recognition of both their achievements they were voted Players of the Week by the SoxProspects.com community. Dening was also named Carolina League Player of the Week.
On the season, Dening, 21, is hitting .297/.370/.396 with 1 home run, 9 doubles and 3 triples, with 24 RBI and 4 stolen bases (2 CS) in 182 at-bats over 51 games. Ramirez, 27, owns a 1-1 record with a 5.67 ERA in 16 games over 33.1 innings, allowing 28 runs on 38 hits, and striking out 34 while walking 18.
