Players of the Week, June 14-20: Yamaico Navarro & Michael Bowden
The #12th ranked player on SoxProspects.com and a former first round selection highlight this week's SoxProspects.com player and pitcher of the week honors.
Yamaico Navarro of the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs had a week to remember this past week, hitting .400/.550/1.000 in 15 at-bats over 5 games. Navarro, 22, had 6 hits during his torrid week, including 3 home runs, 6 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. After slumping during May, he has turned it on in June, hitting .321 and getting on base at a .426 clip, including 4 home runs and 13 RBI. Navarro was the overwhelming selection for Player of the Week by the SoxProspects.com community, garnering 92% of the vote.
Michael Bowden of the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox may have only pitched one game this week, but it was an outstanding start as he continues to rebound from early season struggles. Bowden, the 23-year-old right-hander, squared off against the Louisville Bats (CIN) Tuesday, hurling 7.2 scoreless innings while only allowing 3 hits and striking out 4 to earn him Pitcher of the Week honors. Bowden is now 2-3 with a 4.23 ERA in 14 starts this season and has fallen from 12th to 22nd in the most recent SoxProspects.com rankings. He has allowed three runs or less in his last six starts.
