Colon throws 6 scoreless 1 hit innings


5/16 Cup of Coffee: Pawtucket swept a doubleheader from Buffalo yesterday. They took the first game 9-1. David Pauley (4-2) went 5 scoreless innings allowing 5 hits and a BB. He had 2 Ks. Michael Tejera threw an inning giving up 1 run on 1 hit. He had 2 Ks. Eric Hull pitched the final inning allowing 2 hits. Jeff Bailey went 2 for 5 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Joe Thurston went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Sandy Madera went 2 for 4 with a RBI. Dusty Brown went 3 for 4 with a run scored. In the second game, Bartolo Colon was dominant in a 2-0 win. He threw 6 scoreless, 1 hit innings. He did not allow a BB while striking out 4. Chris Smith pitched a 1-2-3 final inning. The PawSox only had 2 hits themselves.

Trenton defeated Portland 7-2. Justin Masterson (1-3) threw 6 innings giving up 7 runs on 9 hits and 2 BB. He had 3 Ks. Mike James pitched 2 clean innings fanning 2. Andrew Pinckney went 2 for 3 and scored a run.

Visalia edged Lancaster 4-3. Brian Steinocher threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. He had 4 Ks. Richie Lentz (0-2) blew the save and took the loss. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings of work. He had 2 Ks. TJ Large threw a scoreless frame allowing 2 hits and a BB. Lars Anderson went 2 for 4 with a home run. Chih-Hsien Chiang went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Zak Farkes went 2 for 4. Daniel Nava went 3 for 3 with a home run.

Charleston edged Greenville 2-1. Chris Province went 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and a BB. He had 4 Ks. Bryce Cox threw 2 perfect innings of relief. He had 4 Ks. Ryan Kalish went 2 for 4.
