Bowden dominant in Sea Dog win


5/25 Cup of Coffee: Pawtucket downed Rochester on Saturday 9-1. David Pauley (6-2) went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits and 4 BB. He had 6 Ks. Eric Hull threw 2 scoreless innings of relief allowing 2 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. Chris Smith pitched a scoreless 9th allowing 1 hit. He fanned 1. Joe Thurston went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI. Chris Carter went 3 for 4 and scored a run. Brandon Moss went 2 for 5 with 3 runs scored and a RBI. Chad Spann went 1 for 3 with 5 RBI.

Portland defeated New Britain 4-1 behind the strong start of Michael Bowden. He went 7 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit. He did not walk a batter while fanning 5. Daniel Bard threw 2 scoreless innings of relief. He gave up 1 hit and struck out 2. Jeff Corsaletti went 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Lancaster blanked Stockton 2-0. Adam Mills (5-3) went 6.2 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits. He had 5 Ks. Josh Papelbon threw 2.1 scoreless frames giving up 1 hit and 1 BB. He had 3 Ks. Josh Reddick went 1 for 4 with a home run. Daniel Nava went 1 for 3 with a home run.

Savannah defeated Greenville 4-2. Terumasa Matsuo (2-1) threw 5 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 2 BB. He had 7 Ks. Bryce Cox went 1.2 innings and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. Chad Povich threw the final 2.1 frames. He retired the 7 batters he faced striking out 4 of them. Ryan Kalish went 2 for 4. Jared Stanley went 2 for 4 with a home run.

Player of the Night: Michael Bowden who threw 7 innings of 1 hit ball and did not allow a BB while fanning 5.
