Thurston to be promoted; Cora to DL
Prior to this evening's game, Alex Cora will be placed on the 15-day DL with a sore right elbow. The move will be retroactive to April 10, the last time Cora saw game action. In his place, the Sox are anticipated to purchase the contract of Joe Thurston from Pawtucket. Thurston, 28, can fill in at 2B, SS, and OF adequately, and will add some speed and versatility off the bench. He was hitting .255 in 12 games at Pawtucket, after signing a minor league contract with the organization back in December.
