Pauley Receives the Call

RHP David Pauley has been called up to Boston this afternoon as Josh Beckett has been scratched from the start tonight against the Angels due to a stiff neck. In the counter move INF/OF Joe Thurston has been designated for assignment. Pauley has been off to a solid start for the Paw Sox going 1-1 with a 1.17 ERA in 3 starts. He saw big league action back in 2005. Thurston struggled in his brief call-up to Boston failing to get a hit in 8 at-bats over 4 games.
