Corey to be DFA'd for Timlin
Manager Terry Francona announced in his post game comments that RHP Bryan Corey will be designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for RHP Mike Timlin who will be activated before Friday's scheduled game against New York. In six appearances with the Red Sox in 2008, Corey allowed seven earned runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings (a 14.54 ERA), striking out three and walking one. Corey, 34, who made cameo appearances with the Sox in 2006 and 2007 spent the vast majority of his time at Pawtucket, was acquired for RHP Luis Mendoza in 2006. Timlin was placed on the DL March 28 (retroactive to March 20) with an injury to the index finger on his throwing hand.
