Hurst rejoins Sox in player development

Red Sox Director of Player Development Mike Hazen announced today that former Red Sox Bruce Hurst has rejoined the organization with the title of Special Instructor for Player Development. Hurst will be working as a pitching instructor and evaluator in the Sox system. After participating in the off season Rookie Development Program, Hurst has been with the organization since the opening of spring training. Hurst served as the pitching coach of the China National Team in the 2006 World Baseball Classic, and spent four years in that role. From 1980-1988 Hurst owned an 145-113 record with a 3.92 ERA in 379 games with the Red Sox, and was elected to the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2004.
