Red Sox claim Jay Marshall off waivers
According to a Red Sox press release, on Monday the team claimed soft-tossing lefty releiver Jay Marshall off waivers from Oakland and designated Daniel Haigwood for assignment. Despite spending the entire 2007 season with Oakland as a Rule 5 pick, the 24-year-old Marshall will likely start 2008 in Pawtucket. Haigwood will likely not be claimed by another team, and may end up re-upping with the Red Sox organization.
