Pitcher of the Week, June 17-23: Masterson
The JetHawks swept this week's SoxProspects.com awards as RHP Justin Masterson was voted Pitcher of the Week for June 17-23. In his June 17 start against Bakersfield (Rangers) Masterson threw seven innings of four hit baseball, allowing one ER while striking out seven, walking none and earning the win. Masterson was a 2006 second round pick out of San Diego State and spent 14 games last season with Lowell (3-1, 0.85 ERA 31.2 IP, 33K/2BB). On the season with Lancaster Masterson is 6-5 with a 4.85 ERA in 81.2 IP (44 ER, 95 H, 49K/22BB), in June he is 4-1 with a 3.26 ERA in five starts (30 IP, 27 H, 11 ER, 16K/2BB).
