Murphy called up
The Red Sox officially placed RHP Curt Schilling on the DL today, retroactive to June 19, and called up Pawtucket OF David Murphy to fill his roster spot. The move is expected to be short-lived, however, as the Boston Globe's Gordon Edes is reporting the the Sox will promote Pawtucket LHP Kason Gabbard to make Tuesday's start against Seattle, returning Murphy to Pawtucket. Murphy spend 20 games with the Sox as a late season call up in 2006, hitting .227/.346/.409 (.755 OPS) with one HR and one double in 22 ABs.
