Ellsbury called up, will make debut tonight

The Boston Red Sox have purchased the contract of SoxProspects.com #2 prospect, Pawtucket OF Jacoby Ellsbury, who will make his major league debut tonight against the Texas Rangers. Ellsbury, wearing #46, will start in center field and bat ninth. After an early season promotion from Portland, the 23-year-old lefty-hitting Ellsbury has hit .277/.352/.354 (.707 OPS) with 8 doubles, 4 triples and has stolen 21 bases (1 CS) with Pawtucket. Regular CF Coco Crisp is still ailing from a finger injury suffered while diving for a ball during this past week's series against Seattle, prompting the Sox to make this move. In a corresponding move, the Sox have placed RHP Joel Pineiro on the DL with a sore ankle.
