Bowden Ks 8 to lead Sea Dogs to win


6/16 Cup of Coffee: On Friday, Richmond blanked Pawtucket 3-0. Jon Lester (1-3) went 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 8 hits and 1 BB. He had 3 Ks. Mike Burns threw an inning allowing 1 run on 2 hits. Manny Delcarmen pitched a scoreless final frame giving up 0 hits while walking 2. The PawSox had only 2 hits in the game with Brandon Moss going 1 for 2 and David Murphy going 1 for 4.

Portland defeated Akron 9-3. Michael Bowden (3-2) went 6 2/3 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits. He allowed 2 BB while fanning 8. Barry Hertzler went 2 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 1 hit and 2 BB. He had 2 Ks. Bryan Pritz went 3 for 5 with a home run and 3 RBI. Dusty Brown went 2 for 4 with a home run. Zach Borowiak went 2 for 3 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.

Inland Empire edged Lancaster 4-3 to tie the Jethawks for first place with only 2 games left in the first half Championship. Matt Goodson (1-4) went 4 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs on 9 hits and 4 BB. He had 3 Ks. Kevin Guyette pitched the final 3 1/3 innings. He did not allow a hit but gave up 1 BB. He had 2 Ks. He ended the game by retiring the final 9 hitters. Aaron Bates went 2 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI. Scott White went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI.

Greenville got by Columbus 5-3. Chris Jones (5-4) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and a BB. He had 8Ks. Bryce Cox threw 2 scoreless innings. He gave up 1 hit and 1 BB. Josh Papelbon earned his 11th save throwing a perfect 9th inning. He had 1 K. Argenis Diaz went 4 for 4 and scored a run. Manny Arambarris went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Josh Reddick went 2 for 4 with a RBI.

Player of the Night: Michael Bowden who allowed just 1 run on 3 hits over 6 2/3 innings. He had 8Ks.
