Timlin to DL, Hansack called up


RHP Mike Timlin has placed on the 15 day DL by the Boston Red Sox, effective May 3, with tendinitis in his right shoulder. 29-year-old RHP Devern Hansack was called up from AAA Pawtucket to take Timlin's spot. He was active for Thursday evening's game against Seattle, in the bullpen wearing number 46.Hansack had started the 2007 season white hot but has cooled somewhat of late, going 1-3 (12 ER, 28.2 IP) with a 3.77 ERA in five starts. In Hansack's first three starts he pitched 16 innings, allowing 3 ER on 14 hits, while striking out 23. Timlin had been 1-0 with a 6.23 ERA in nine relief appearances (6 ER, 8.2 IP), opponents were batting .361 against him (.349 in 2006). This is his second stint this year on the DL, having been out until April 10 to begin the year.
