Last night, Pawtucket and Syracuse were rained out. New Hampshire blanked Portland 3-0. Chris Smith went 7 innings and took the loss. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out 4. Edgar Martinez pitched a perfect eighth striking out 1. Zack Borowiak and Luis Jimenez both went 1 for 3. Salem edged Wilmington 3-2 in 10 innings. Andrew Dobies lasted 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits. He walked 3 and struck out 6. Jason Richardson took the loss allowing 1 run on 1 hit and 1 walk in 2 2/3 innings. He struck out 5. Bryan Pritz went 3 for 4. Ian Bladergroen went 1 for 3 with a home run. Hickory outslugged Greenville 18-10. Chris Turner went 3 for 5 with 2 homers and 5 RBI. Jeff Natale went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Mike Leonard went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Mike Bowden took the loss going 3 2/3 innings. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits and a walk. He struck out 6. J.T. Zink in 2/3 of an inning allowed 8 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks. Player of The Night: Chris Turner who went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI.
