It is hard to believe that it is September and the Red Sox will be calling up additional players from the minor league teams today. Pawtucket edged Syracuse 3-2. Tim Kester went 6 2/3 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits. He had 5 Ks. Tim Bausher blew the save but picked up the win going 2 innings while allowing 1 run on 2 hits. Shawn Wooten went 2 for 3 with a home run. Dustin Pedroia went 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. Portland clinched a playoff spot even though they lost to Altoona 5-3. Kason Gabbard went only 1 inning allowing 2 runs on 2 hits. Denny Tomori went 4 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. Brandon Moss had another good night going 3 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Wilmington swept a double header from Salem winning the first game 1-0 and the second 4-1. In the first game, Justin Sturge went 4 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits. Ryan Schroyer finished the last 3 innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits. Dusty Brown went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Claudio Arias was also 2 for 3 with a RBI. In the second game, Jose Vaquedano went 6 innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits. He struck out 7. Bryan Pritz was 3 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Iggy Suarez went 2 for 3. Scott White and Dusty Brown were both 2 for 4. Greenville got by Savannah by a score of 5-4. Jarrett Gardner threw 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits. Kevin Guyette blew the save but got the win going 3 innings while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits.Matt Ciaramella went 3 for 4 with a home run and Tony Granadillo went 2 for 3. Lowell defeated Vermont 4-2. Adam Blackley started the game and gave up 2 runs and 7 hits in 3 innings of work. Hunter Jones pitched 4 innings of middle relief allowing 0 runs on only 1 hit. He struck out 7 consecutive Vermont hitters. Argimiro Gaunchez got the win pitching two scoreless innings. Yahmed Yema was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Dustin Kelly was also 2 for 4 with a RBI.
