Strong outings by Huntzinger and Clay lead Scottsdale to win


11/2 Cup of Coffee: Scottsdale was able to get back to winning on Tuesday, defeating Peoria, 6-4.

The Scorpions scored 2 runs in both the first and third innings, and had a 4-0 lead entering the fourth inning. The Javelinas clawed their way back to tie the game at 4-4 after 5 innings. Scottsdale retook the lead in the bottom of the 6th on Joe Panik's (SF) 2-run home run, which proved to be enough as the bullpen held on for the victory. Offensively the team was led by Panik and Bryce Harper (WAS), who each went 2-4 with a home run and 2 RBI. For the Red Sox, Dan Butler went 1-3, while Alex Hassan went 0-3 with a sacrifice fly.

Brock Huntzinger started the game and contributed a very strong outing. Huntzinger went 4.0 innings and allowed 3 hits and a run. He did not walk a batter and struck out 3. Caleb Clay earned the win in relief, as he threw 2.0 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts.

Scottsdale next takes the field this evening, as it hosts Surprise at 9:35 EST.
