Report: Red Sox sign 29th round pick Matt Spalding
According to WEEI.com's Alex Speier, the Red Sox have signed 29th round pick Matt Spalding, a right-handed pitcher from Kentucky, for $275,000.
Spalding, a Western Kentucky University commit, impressed scouts as a senior at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Ky., with a fastball that touches 95 MPH. According to the LousvilleCatholicSports.com, Spalding will head to Ft. Myers for the remainder of the Gulf Coast League season and remain in Florida for the Fall Instructional League.
