With a big night at the plate, Greenville Heads to the winner's circle

Cup of Coffee 4/12: Miles Head’s big night led Greenville to a win in a night that saw the 3 affiliates combine for 44 hits.

Pawtucket used 16 hits to rout Buffalo (NYM) by a score of 15-1. Six of the nine members of the lineup collected at least 2 hits. Juan Carlos Linares went 3-5 with a home run and 3 RBI. Tony Thomas went 2-4 with a walk, a home run and 4 RBI. Ryan Kalish (3-5, 1 RBI) and Josh Reddick (2-5, 2 RBI) also contributed strong performances for the PawSox. Veteran Brandon Duckworth picked up the win, going 5 scoreless innings, allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. Hideki Okajima continued his good start to the season by pitching a perfect 8th inning with 2 strikeouts.

Portland had 14 hits themselves, but managed just 2 runs as they lost to Trenton by a score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Oscar Tejeda went 2-4 with a walk and a 6th inning RBI single. Tim Federowicz went 2-5, including a 9th inning RBI single that tied the game at 2-2. Michael Lee started the game for the Sea Dogs and went 3.1 innings, surrendering 3 hits, 1 run and a walk while striking out 4. Santo Luis took the loss despite not giving up a hit. Luis went 3.1 innings, but walked the bases loaded in the 10th and gave up the go-ahead sacrifice fly.

Greenville used 14 hits to outslug Charleston 12-10. Head led the way for the Drive, going 4-4 with 2 home runs, 4 RBI and a walk. Drew Hedman went 2-4 with a home run and 5 RBI. Leadoff hitter Felix Sanchez went 2-3 with 1 RBI, 2 walks and a stolen base. Though Greenville needed every bit of the offense to earn the victory, it was by no means the fault of Miguel Celestino. Celestino, making his Greenville debut, started the game and went 5 great innings, giving up 7 hits and 1 run while striking out 6. Garrett Rau came on in relief of Celestino and gave up 6 runs in 2 innings of work.

Player of the Day: Miles Head, who went 4-4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI.
